My Health & Wellness Journey

In 2002, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. As a young mother of two children, I was overwhelmed. I got quickly thrown into a treatment plan that involved two surgeries and radiation. Not long after that, I found out I had a pituitary tumor in my brain. Every day was a struggle to just make it through. And, while my doctors were treating my diagnosis, I was not given the tools I needed to function day-to-day. I no longer felt like myself.

I began researching natural health and ways I could effect positive change in my health. When I started implementing nutrition and lifestyle changes specific to me and my life, I regained the resilience I had before my diagnosis. I felt better than ever before. These are powerful tools that get overlooked that can make a significant impact on health.

That's what spurred me to study holistic wellness and help others as well.. Along that journey, I became a Certified Health Specialist, Certified Doctor of Naturopathy, and found my passion as a Certified Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner.

I’ve Been on Both Sides of the Scale

Here, I was the thinnest I had ever been. I was obsessed with counting calories, but not with the quality of food I was eating. I was eating a box of Jr. Mints every night because I had the “points” to do it.

Unbeknownst to me in this photo, I had a cancerous thyroid tumor growing in my neck. I was tired, had no stamina, and my hands would swell if I was in the heat.
